have a huge impact.

Using a sauna regularly is one of them.

5 facts you should know about RA

Sun May 21, 2017 10:02 am by piilaadziitis

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] Rheumatoid Arthritis is more than a joint disease.
Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease in which inflammation damages the lining of joints, tissues that surround joints (such as tendons), other connective tissue throughout the body, and the surface of bones. RA is one of more than 100 forms of arthritis affecting millions of Americans. It is not the same disease as …

8 things not to say to someone who have RA

Fri May 26, 2017 9:43 pm by piilaadziitis

When most people hear the word “arthritis” they probably picture a grandma who has trouble knitting or maybe a grandpa who walks with a cane. Most people don’t picture a mother chasing after her children, or a teenager at the mall with her friends, or a baby learning how to walk. But the reality is that all of these people can have forms of arthritis.

Confusion about the different types of …

Coping with RA

Wed May 17, 2017 3:27 am by piilaadziitis

I turned off the dryer and reached in, burying my hands in the deep-heated load of towels that had just finished the dry cycle. Oh, that felt so good! For a long moment, I just left them there, wiggling my fingers and letting the heat sink into my achy hands.

What didn’t feel so good was gathering the towels into a big wad, pulling them from the dryer and carrying them over to the bed. And …

Dumb things people say

Wed May 10, 2017 7:46 am by piilaadziitis

It’s truly impossible to catalog all the dumb things people have said to me about my rheumatoid arthritis and resulting disabilities. For the most part, these comments are the misfires of well-intentioned people. I won’t even mention the purposefully mean comments.

But there are plenty of dumb things people have said:

Have you ever tried this [random cure]? I know they mean well but strange supplements …

I am honest

Fri May 05, 2017 10:42 pm by piilaadziitis

You need to be honest and talk. Never lie to yourself about arthritis.

Since 30/04/2017 my RA upgraded himself to Autoimmune Arthritis.

Not hiding. Lot of people must be educated, actually.

Owning my RA

Sun Jun 04, 2017 6:51 pm by piilaadziitis

Have you ever noticed that you refer to your own Rheumatoid Arthritis disease as “my RA”? It did not start out that way, but I think this sheds some interesting light on how we move through our disease journey.

When we first discover we have RA, it is still very alien to us. We most likely know very little about it, how it will change our lives or how we will manage it; from treatment to …

RA - more than just joint pain

Wed May 17, 2017 3:26 am by piilaadziitis

Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is defined as an auto-immune condition where the immune system attacks the body’s healthy tissue. Thus, RA symptoms go well beyond painful and stiff joints. But there are a lot of misconceptions surrounding RA since it is not the same for everyone. While one person with RA may experience joint pain, stiffness of joints, etc. someone else might experience skin symptoms …

Arthritis - uninvited guest who will not leave
Since first day had need to talk with someone, who has the same experience. Couldn't find what i was looking for. Here i try to make it work. For our partners too, which see us, feel us every day. We talk, explain them our moods, etc. But it is hard - they don't have it. It is for them too to share together, to better understand us.
